Lect1.3 Bioinfo vs Comp Bio

• Bioinformatics = creation of tools like database algorithm that solves problem mainly works on biological data

• computational biology = study of biology using computational techniques.

Levels of Bioinfo / Cop bio

• Level 0 : Modeling for Modeling sake

• Level 1 (Entry): Use published tools to generate hypothesis for experimentalist, how algo are devevlpe and how things are working (help biologist analyse data)

• Level 2 (Bioinfo): Develop algorith and database for data analysis on new technology data integrationa and reuse (you own the problem)

• Level 3 (CompBio): MAke biological discoveries from public data integrationa and modelling. (computational person they come with the que of bio how to make sense of data)

• Level X : Integrative Studeies of big consortia (Scientist)

• Interdisciplianary
